I think name is M McFETRIDGE

If you put McFETRIDGE into Google (other search engines are available) you will find that it exists as a surname. :)

FETRIDGE also seems to be a name (rarer), but the one we are shown seems to have a Mc in there.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

McFetridge could well be right. As the address seems to be quite clear, is there any chance of trying it from the address side - census, town directory or something? If you could find a way of looking at who was living at that address at that time it could confirm the guesses. Just a suggestion.

I think I'll try the 1891 census first - I got sidetracked and haven't done any more searching on this line yet.

Jules

edited to add:  I've checked the 1891 census and I think I have the right people.

Malcolm & Annie McFetridge living in 30 Tennant Street, Coatbridge with their four children.

Did the deceased have a daughter Ann Elizabeth Harrison?

She married a Malcolm McFetridge in 1882, Old Monkland (Middle)

Yes, Ann Elisabeth is the one - as I was editing my post you were posting the info you found!

I'd only checked the 1891 census so thanks to you I have a marriage year - everything fits age wise.
