Do you have a copy of your dads birth certificate?

It will give his parent's names

Try to get a copy of his birth or marriage certificates which will give his parent's names. That will allow you to go back further generations

If you are trying to get in touch with descendents then you might find them on GenesReunited

Hi ,

The Mundia website has -
William Short Johnston Luke 1909 - 1966 born Maryhill , died Glasgow
Parents Henry(Harry) Luke 1882 - 1954 and Agnes Cairns Johnston 1880 - 1937

As sancti suggests the marriage certificate would get you started

Thanks  :). The name Johnston rang a few bells,
I wasn't sure of granfathers name, William was name of his
1st son, so that's why I put William, then I remember the name
Harry, li its the right family then he a son harry who died young
He would've been few years older than my dad, (1943)
 Thanks for your help   :)
