1946 Electoral Roll - Northants
« on: Friday 20 July 12 11:23 BST (UK) »
If anyone can possibly help I would be very grateful.
I am looking for any occupants of the following addresses in 1946.

2 Newlands, Northampton
6 Hopes Place, Kingsthorpe, Northampton.

All names might be useful.

Many thanks ............. Mike

Hi Mike.

As it was just after the 2nd world war ended most electoral
rolls do not exist for 1939 to 1949.

Maybe asking at the Northants Record Office might help.

There is nothing to assist you at Northampton Library.

Hi Sandy

Thank you for the quick reply.
In the past I have been told that the first Electoral Roll after the war was 1946, but I suppose this could vary between counties.
I'll try Northants office.
Many thanks again

HI Mike.

The N.R.O. do have from 1946 so ideal place to ask.

The Library had a gap from 1939 to 1949.

Electoral rolls ceased from 1939 to 1945, I know that a roll was conducted for late 1945 and should be at your local records office. If you are unable to travel, email the records office to look for you. I have had quite a few searches made, some offices will charge but usually a simple one year search is done for free, well it was for me

Thank you both for the info.
I knew they were aborted during the war but some districts probably restarted later than others for different reasons.
I'll try the Record Office.
