Catherine disappears !

Hi everyone
Need some help on trying to find Catherine Carmichael who married Edward George Brutnell in 1914 Newcastle Upon Tyne ENG.

Edward remarries in 1923 in Portsmouth Hampshire ENG

I have tried to find a death for Catherine Brutnell between the years 1914 - 1923 but can't find it . Any help would be great

Any issue (kids) of the marriage?

Tried all of ENGLAND no issue as far as I know ... might have had children but I think they died . No proof though just looking at birth & death registers through the years 1913 - 1924

newcastle is way up north, though, close to scotland.
I wouldn't rule it out

Good idea , especially as the name Carmichael seems to be prevailent in Scotland

Do you have the certificates? It's just that the 1914 marriage is indexed as Edward G and the 1923 one as Edward M, is that an error in the index or is it two different Edwards?

Its definitely the same chap who marries Ada Kathleen Bird Cooper . . . Edward George Brutnell . There must have been a transcription error . His death is registered as Edward George Brutnell in Portsmouth in 1961 . He was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1889.

Is it possible that Catherine didn't die in that time frame, ie that they separated and Mr Brutnell didn't state that he had been married before when he remarried Ms Cooper? ( I'm assuming that you have the1923 marriage cert and it doesn't say he had been married before)

Have you also located Catherine on the 1911 census ie pre marriage to see if the family had any other names associated with them that might give you any other clues. ( I'm assuming you have the 1914 marriage cert to check for spelling of names, fathers name etc. )
