I was in Wolverhampton Archives today, and found a reference to 'Seven Houses Row': this was not in the Goldthorn Hill area, however.
The book I was reading - 'Local Slums' by Tom Fisher* identifies Seven Houses Row as 'now known as Brook Street', which is in the parish of St Marks, and at that time lay within - or adjoining - the area known as 'The Besom Yard', which was a very poor - and pretty rough - area.
*There is no date of publication of this book, which appears to be a bound copy of weekly newspaper articles; internal evidence suggests that they may have originally been published in the Wolverhampton Chronicle. The syle of writing and of the illustrations (black and white photographs of water colour sketches) suggests to me a date of 1920-1930.
Hope that this may be of interest.
