Hi

Would you list what you have for this lady?
How did you get to the death you listed?

Is this lady anything to do with the other Sarah Susanah you are/were looking for, or the later Wilding, in other threads you have running?

Regards
Ray

Hi

I doubt the Susanna Wilding born Shirehampton circa 1776 being searched for in Westbury on Trym Gloucestershire on the 1841 and 1851 census is the correct woman as she is unmarried with her older widowed sister Sarah Davis. Whereas other topics state the search is for the mother of Rebecca Wilding born in Plymouth in 1809 whose father was Captain John Wilding deceased 1829. Rebecca Wilding living in Gloucestershire on later censuses.

There is a Rebecca Wilding aged 62 on the 1871 census in Bristol born Plymouth who was a widow on the 1871 census with daughter Jane Wilding aged 21 born Bristol. She appears on the 1861 census as the wife of William Wilding RG9 1733 folio 79 in Bristol and in the same city on the 1851 census HO 107 1954 folio 123 eldest child of William and Rebecca Wilding aged 18 on that census, confirmed by the 1841 census. William Wilding was a shoe maker. There is a possible marriage of a William Wilding to a Rebecca Gunter in 1832 in Gloucestershire which might be a match.

The possible death given on this topic of John Wilding seems to be of an ordinary seamen in Malta in 1829.

Some of the possible children of that John Wilding if baptisms have been confirmed in Plymouth.

8th July 1840 St Mary Lambeth Surrey
Henry Wilding Full Age Bachelor Silversmith Hercules Buildings John Wilding deceased mariner
Maria Gillard Full Age Widow Hercules Buildings Daniel Loveday deceased gent.
Both signed
Witnesses Ellen Gilliard and John Wilson Hillhouse

1851 Census HO1536 folio 289
9 Lincoln Place Shoreditch Middlesex
Henry Wilding 39 Head Married Pawnbrokers assistant Plymouth Devon
Maria Wilding 48 Wife Married Newington Surrey
Henry Wilding 6 Son Stepney Middlesex

1851 Census HO 107 1499 folio 196
2 Hopkins Buildings Islington Middlesex
Ann Wilding 42 Head Unmarried Dressmaker Plymouth Devon
Jane Wilding 27 Sister Unmarried Dressmaker Plymouth Devon (later censuses indicate the age should be 37)

10th February 1858 Holy Trinity Islington
Thomas Wilding Full Age Bachelor Pawn broker Holy Trinity John Wilding Deceased
Mary Batter Full Age Widow Hoky Trinity Allen Hopkins Deceased
Both signed
Witnesses George Moss  And Martha C Moss

1861 Census RG9 192 folio 97 Thomas Wilding aged 47 born Plymouth pawnbrokers assistant is with his wife Mary, a son-in-law with te surname Batter, a mother-in-law called Amelia Hopkins and his own son fom his marriage.

Other than a John Wilding aged 41 in the 1861 census in Wales who was an agricultural labourer and a Joseph Wilding aged 42 a tailor in Preston Lancashire, these seem to be the only Wildings who were born Wilding and born in Plymouth on the censuses apart from the ones in the London area.

1841 Census HO107 665 Bk2 folio 25
Hopkins Building Islington Middlesex
Ann Wilding 30 Dressmaker
Jane Wilding 25 Dressmaker
Thomas Wilding 21 Pawnbroking
William Wilding 20 Clerk
all not born in county

Henry was with his wife Maria in Stepney Middlesex on the 1841 Census HO 107 793 Bk5 folio 8

1851 Census HO107 15@2 folio 611
13 Shepperton Place West Islington
William Fk Wilding 30 Head Married Commercial Clerk Plymouth Devon
Maria Wilding 28 Wife Married School Mistress Brixton Surrey
Willm Thos Wilding 2 Son Bermondsey Surrey

11th January 1846 St Silas Liverpool Lancashire
William Fredetick Wilding Full Age Bachelor Bookeeper Liverpool John Wilding Bookeeper
Maria Peile Full Age Spinster Seacombe in the parish of Wallasey Cheshire Joseph Peile Musician
Both signed
Witnesses Robert Matchea? and Ann Maria Mitchell?

So these siblings had definitely moved to the London area by 1840. If they had a sister Rebecca and she survived childhood there isn't any evidence as yet of her in the London area married or unmarried.

Thank you one and all for valuable input ..... back to the drawing board now.......

The one that we really NEED the parents of is .....

##Henry Wilding
married
**8th July 1840 St Mary Lambeth Surrey
##Henry Wilding Full Age Bachelor Silversmith Hercules Buildings John Wilding deceased mariner
Maria Gillard Full Age Widow Hercules Buildings Daniel Loveday deceased gent.
Both signed
Witnesses Ellen Gilliard and John Wilson Hillhouse

1851 Census HO1536 folio 289
9 Lincoln Place Shoreditch Middlesex

##Henry Wilding 39 Head Married Pawnbrokers assistant Plymouth Devon
Maria Wilding 48 Wife Married Newington Surrey
Henry Wilding 6 Son Stepney Middlesex

It now seems that our ##Henry Wilding and Rebecca Wilding were NOT siblings....

What a conundrum..........

Kind regards  from........

Hi

Find My Past have the registers of St Charles the Martyr Plymouth registers online. A free search of the indexes shows a series of Wilding baptisms (5 between 1809 and 1821) including Henry's in 1812. If you have not already accessed the information you really need to, to establish just who is and isn't a sibling of Henry and confirm further information on the Wilding siblings parents. Find My Past is a subscription website and therefore a copyrighted source. You cannot request lookups on Rootschat from specific copyrighted sources. Find My Past also holds burial records for this parish as well as the registers for the neighbouring Plymouth parish St Andrews where Jane was baptised in 1813. Find My Past free search is also showing a marriage for a John Wilding in Plymouth in 1808. There is a burial of a Jane Wilding in the St Charles registers in 1823 birth circa 1784 who could be the children's mother given one of the children was named Jane.
