Look up request- Florence Davis
« on: Sunday 15 July 12 19:38 BST (UK) »
Hello there. I hope someone is able to help please! :)
I'm trying to find confirmation of her death in 1949.
1905 Jan -Birth Fulham St Matthew, England

1905 5 Jan -Baptism Fulham St Matthew, England

1911 2 Apr -Age: 6- Residence  Lambeth, London, England

1931 Sep -Age: 26-Marriage -Lambeth, Surrey

1943 4 May-Age: 38-Divorce from Phillip Crawford

1949- Age: 44-Death   This is the only info I could find re her passing. We've been trying for years to find her and finding the year was a breakthrough.

Thank you very much.

Hi

I can't see a Florence Crawford death registration of the right age in 1949. Have you evidence she reverted to her maiden name after her divorce? The Florence Davis death registration in Birmingham in the March quarter of 1949 looks to be the Florence who died 5th February 1949 of 42 Rockingam Road Birmingham. Her husband Thomas Davis administered her estate probated 21st April. He was an engineer's foreman.

Valda

Hi

Thank you Trevor. It is always easier to add to a topic when others have started 'the ball rolling' with information.

I suspect this may be a hard one to crack without more to go on.

yes it did make me think regarding wether we need to work with a maiden name or her marrried one so went with what was posted , think we need to know where the reference comes from regarding the finding of the death year as well .

Hello Valda and t mo! :) Thank you very much for your help. Sorry for my late reply, been away.
Yes Florence is a mystery, the divorce was messy and things got worse later so we are not sure which surname she used. I opted for Davis but I guess Crawford is possible. There was even a possible marriage to a person w/surname Taylor.
Will delve more and try to see what I can find out.
You are brilliant here on Roots! :) I'm very grateful and still feel such a beginner!
All the best.

When I googled another family name Ancestry co uk came up with another name on a Forum. On looking that up I discovered my Florence. Actually I wasn't allowed to look it up but became a guest member and was able to write a reply. Someone else on Ancestry wrote to me and allowed me to view the family tree. This person turns out to be a cousin of mine, very far removed, if that is the correct term! :) And they are very helpful and kind.
I was shocked to find my Florence Davis's passing date on the family tree! :o
I've asked my person on Ancestry about getting confirmation re this but they haven't had much luck, although they are trying hard and keeping me updated.
In the end I thought I'd ask the experts here! :)

All the best and thanks for any help.
