BATES, Hannah Huet
« on: Saturday 14 July 12 06:46 BST (UK) »
Greetings from New Plymouth, New Zealand! My ancestor Henry David LLOYD married a "Hannah Huet BATES - latterly of London"  in Nelson NZ 24 May 1870.  Her birthdate was abt 1849 - but other than that there seems to be nothing else about her arrival in NZ, her parents, or place of birth. She's a bit of a mystery woman. Any suggestions/help appreciated! (Where is Sherlock Holmes when you need him...)
Lloyd GLEESON.

A question re the 1861 Census extract... the father, John Huet Bates, doesn't appear. With Hannah appearing as 'head', is it likely John had died since the earlier Census? or is it just an indication that he was 'elsewhere' at that point in time?
