Hi Graham - The good ship 'Gertrude' sailed from Gravesend 1 Nov 1862 with heaps of Robinsons on board. However, the only matches with ‘my’ Robinsons were Father William, Emma (26), and Matthew William (12). They arrived in Auckland NZ 9 Jan 1863.
It would have been William’s intention to get himself established and create a home for the family before sending for the rest of them.
So it came to pass that mother Eleanor, John William (19), Robert Henry (10), Eleanor 17), Dorothy Jane (15), and Hannah Maria (11), boarded the 'John Duncan' in Gravesend on 8 Oct 1863 and sailed to Auckland - arriving 23 Jan 1864. They settled in Takapuna.
In 1872 Hannah married Charles GLEESON and they moved to Huntly (establishing Gleesons Bakery). Hannah died in 1894 leaving Charles with 7 children - the youngest age 5. She is buried in Huntly Cemetery - the exact location unknown.
