Albert Herbert - married Florence Ward in 1929 in Wolverhampton
« on: Friday 13 July 12 08:16 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm currently tracing the above family and although I'm fine with Florence's side, I'm really stuck with Albert (middle initial according to the marriage record 'A').  There are a couple options I'm looking at (via the 1911 census), one of which places an Albert in Aston, Birmingham and the other as an 'Arthur' (possibly the middle name) in Stafford, with a father's name of Henry or Victor respectively.  The 'legend' we have is that Albert's father may have been a staff sergeant in the army at some point (or Albert was) and that Albert may have had four or five brothers.

Does anyone have any connections to the Herbert family and so can help with this please?  If not I can access the marriage certificate next week, but I thought I'd ask first.   ;)

Many thanks...Helen  :)

Note: I'm also posting this on the Warwickshire board re: the Birmingham link.

Do you know when/where they died,if it was after 1969 their DOB's will be given.

Hi Carol,

Sadly we don't as Albert left his wife when his son (who's tree I'm following) was about three.  There's a possible death (if he stayed local) in Stafford putting his birth around 1903, which ties with both the Aston and Stafford options, but technically he could have been 16 or 60 when he married so I'm not sure.  I guess the definitive will be the marriage certificate which we know is correct, but I was just trying to get a 'heads up' until I pop in next week to order it!  ;)

Many thanks...Helen :)

Hi,

Just as a follow-on from this - in case others are looking for Albert Herbert - I've confirmed his parents as Victor Arthur and Julia Herbert, nee Mulcrone, from Stafford and Newport in Shropshire respectively.  Both lines are now back a few more generations, so if you need futher information please contact me.

Regards...Helen :)
