I've researched my family back to John Paterson (1819-1890). He married Margaret McCrackan (1822-1891). I'd like info on their marriage, and, if possible, their birth records. Any help would be appreciated.

Paul, as you are finding with your other posts today...all roads always tend to lead to the pay to view site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  It is the official site for BMDs, census images and Old Parish Register entries...and lots more.

From the LDS site, family search, these are some of the births for their children from their index entries - www.rootschat.com/links/0onp/

The 1855 birth cert or those post 1862, should include date and place of parents' marriage, available to view online on Scotlands People.

Regarding death certs for them, the place to check would also be Scotlands People - SP as it is often referred to.

Have a look at some of these help guides here on RC for research resources:

Hi Paul,

I'm interested in your Paterson family. Where are they mainly found? I have Paterson folk who are in Angus.

John Paterson/Margaret McCrackan marriage 7th December 1845 Galston,Ayr.

One daughter,Margaret was born 1855,I would certainly open that on Scotlands People, those 1855 documents give a lot more info than later ones.

There is a possible marriage for this Margaret to Alexander Campbell in Dundonald,Ayr 1871.Could be her,she is certainly enumerated as a Campbell on the 1881 census.
