From FreeBMD Q1 1897 - Herbert Brown, Lincoln, vol 7a, page 669. On the same page Charlotte Annie Heald.

Is it the GRO that say it does not exist or some other source?

The GRO
I applied by internet first and then called them direct and gave them the Id numbers etc even the dates but it didn't help

So it's back to the drawing board

One thing I do remeber though is years ago someone saying they had not been able to get a copy of their marraige Cert as there had been a fire at Possibly sommerset house and it had been destroyed but again how true this was is anybodys guess My granparents past seems to be shrouded in mystery for some reason Probably a family aurgument
he always said his parents were teachers and went to America but I have traced his mother to St Helens Cemetary and living in Prescot as a dressmaker so I doubt that story is true anymore
but his father and Grandfather are elluding me hherbert is not even registered as living with Charlotte  in Prescot on 1901 census
someone suggested he may be in the forces

Any suggestions would be appreciated as to my next move

Knowing my luck they were highwaymen or murderers :D

Have you tried contacting the register office in Lincs to see if they still have their copy? See here -

Apologies

try it another way
it looks like Charlotte went on to have further children
Winifred in c1902 sheffield and Wilfred in c1911 Prescot
as Winifred was born in Sheffield maybe Herbert/charlotte are around that area in 1901 census?

Wilfred J Brown  Prescot Jun 1911 8b 705

2 possible Winifreds for Sheffield birth  Sept 1901 9c 616   or  Mar 1903  9c 553

You could try ordering again from the GRO, but when you order online, don't quote the reference numbers. You will be taken to another screen where you can enter the names, actual place and date.

It is slightly cheaper ordering from the GRO now.

I think it was mentioned on the previous thread ?  in 1901 it really looks likely that Herbert, Charlotte and Reginald are registered as Graham in Sheffield (Ecclesfield)  Piece 4332 folio 159 page 10

Herbert - Joiner - born 1874  Ceylon British Subject
Charlotte born 1874 Laverstoke Hants
Reginald born 1898 Lincolnshire

Charlotte and Reginalds births correspond with what you have found and Sheffield corresponds to birth of Winifred in c1902
Cant find these people in next census or a very likely Herbert Graham in the previous one, or Herbert Graham to Charlotte marriage in that time span
