O'Connell School "1916-1921 Museum"
« on: Tuesday 10 July 12 22:30 BST (UK) »
Would anyone know what became of this & whether any of the exhibits were subsumed into another museum or collection.

I have come across a reference to my father presenting his Peter the Painter gun to the museum but have no idea when.

many thanks

Liam

Hi Liam

I went to the school a couple of years ago and was told the museum had been closed down.  Items had been dispersed to other places on of the main ones being the Michael Collins Museum(National Museum Of Ireland).  You do need to know who handed it in and when.  Unfortunatley for my search I did not have this information.  I did find out though from the school when my granddad started there.  Try e mailing the school first as I was lucky when I called that someone was there who could talk to me.

Margnip, many thanks - I might try the National Museum as I may be able to narrow down a likely date my dad handed it in. Whether in any hand over, they also provided details of who had donated the items I'll just have to wait & see !

thanks again
