« on: Tuesday 10 July 12 16:47 BST (UK) »
Question:

Do genealogists have access to the 1921 Census records in the GROS offices?

This throws up an associated question i.e. Does the 1931 Scottish Census survive?

I thought the Scottish Census documents for 1931 were stored in Edinburgh and so survived the fire.  The fire in Hayes in Middlesex only destroyed the England and Wales 1931 records...?

By the way, in reply to the original question I think that statistical data from the 1921 Census is available now, but not personal data.

In Scotland the restrictions placed upon personal census information by various Acts including the 1910 & 1920 Acts were reinforced and strengthened by the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, which despite the name of the Act inferring greater freedom of information actually made the "100 year rule" law, which is why we had to wait for the 1911 census long after it was released early in England. Unless there is a massive U turn in Parliament we are unlikely to see anything other than statistical information from the 1921 census until 2021.
