Glynde Newspaper 1915
« on: Tuesday 10 July 12 14:22 BST (UK) »
I have a partial newspaper clipping of my GG Grandfather's obituary from a 1915 newspaper (he died in Glynde).

Can anyone tell me what paper this is likely to have been, and whether I can search it online.

Thanks,  Paul

Highly unlikely to be a Glynde newspaper as I doubt they ever had one.  More likely to have been one from [1] Lewes, [2] Brighton, [3] Eastbourne (in that order), none of which are available on Line.   Look for clues in the article on the reverse side to see if the cutting may have been taken from:
[1] Mid Sussex Times, or The Sussex Agricultural Express.
[2] The Brighton & Hove Gazette, The Brighton & Hove Herald, or The Evening Argus.
[3] sorry I dont know an Eastbourne paper.

The Eastbourne paper is the  Eastbourne Herald, but we also have the Eastbourne Gazette which is  a much smaller paper
on a Wednesday....
Wennington, co Durham. Kirtley, Co Durham.
Pitt, Walworth, London. Hilder, Sussex. Humphrey, Sussex.

Thanks folks, I appreciate your time.  I am going to England in October so will investigate further then.
Cheers,  Paul

If your great great grandfather has a name, he might well be known to the Glynde historian Andrew Lusted, contactable through the East Sussex Record Office.

The main general weekly newspaper for that area is the Sussex Express.  The Mid Sussex Times is limited to Mid Sussex as the name suggests.   It will be worth seeing if Lewes record office have it on film.   Of course, it may be from a national paper such as the Times in which case you may find it online.
I see you were visiting in October so with luck you have traced him by now.
