Sincup family please help :)
« on: Monday 09 July 12 23:45 BST (UK) »
Hi im trying to find the Sincup Family, ..... would really like the birth of Elizabeth Sincup mainly.

Here is what i have....

Elizabeth Sincup b 1856 Shropshire married Thomas Hulse at St Clement Longsight Lancashire Feb 9th 1885. now according to LDS  and the registers on there it gives Elizabeth Father as William Sincup.

I have Elizabeth in the 1861 Census with grandfather Thomas Sincup b 1803 Eccleshill Staffordshire, with two Uncles and a possible Uncle in Law- although on A*ry its down as her father Levi Phillips.

in 1871 census Elizabeth is again with Thomas Sincup but his birth is down as 1809.

and so on with the Marriage 1885.

I have tried to find a birth for Elizabeth but no Joy.

now William Sincup i can not find on the census either, i have two baptisms one William b1826 Hanley Staffordshire and Two James born 1828 Hanley Staffordshire, both to parents Thomas and Ellen.

I have Richard b 1843 and John b1846 to Thomas and Elizabeth.

But where are they , there is just no Thomas before 1861 census..... no William to say with daughter Elizabeth

any help is greatly appreciated

In 1851 there is a Sincup family transcribed as Simcaf and Simcock.
There is a child, looks like Samuel who is a boy down as Sarah Sincaf
18 Slack Lane, Stoke on Trent, Hanley, Staffs

Sara Head could be Samuel born 1816 Shelton
Martha Wife
Jane Daughter
sara son could be Samuel born 1844
Margaret daughter
John son b1850

There is a Margaret Phillips lodger b1830 Hanley

Sarah Wood lodger born 1829 Hanley
Harriet Clews lodger b1823 Hanley
Yancy Clews(Fanny Clews) b1841 Hanley

Hi there,
There is a William Sincop on the 1871 census 2810/74/5 which could fit
Tench Lane Eyton
William 41 widow lab at ironworks Cheswardine Salop
William 16 miner Pilson Salop
Emmanuel 8 Stafford High Offley
Mary ann 6 Eyton
Eliza Jane 3 Eyton.
There is a baptism 21.6.1854 Chetwynd of William to William and Ann on familysearch.
They also have William snr as william sinkup age 21 ser from Cheswardine 1851 and Sincup age 15 in 1841 at Market Drayton.
As for Levi Phillips son in law could mean step son and Elizabeth could be Thomas Cincup's second wife.I can't find a marriage though for any of them.
I think a manual trawl through the parish records of Cheswardine and Egmond would help.
All for now

Managed to get 1841 census up 899/3/15/36/3
Lowdley port cheswardine
William Sincop 50 ag lab n
Mary 45 y
Thomas 25 ag lab n
William shoe maker's app 15 y
Jane 10 y
John 6 y
Thomas could just about be Thomas Sincop born 1809 with the 5 years off and William looks like the William Snr born 1826/30.
Also to confuse matters further 1861 census William Junr is there under Simcock.High Offley tunstall Road 1094/102/14
William 30 ag lab Cheswardine
Anne 31 Bodas? salop
William 6 Chetwynd
Elizabeth 4 High Offley
Sarah 2 Cheswardine
Jane Jones un 52 dom ser visitor same
Ada Habets 4  High Offley.
If she was under Simcox Sep 1856 newport 6a 697
or Simcock Market drayton Sep 1857 6a 652 And their marriage would be Newport Dec 1853 6a 1465 to Ann Offleton

Thanks for the reply's...

Heather: I dont have Elizabeth and Thomas in 1891 Census, Elizabeth married Thomas Hulse in Lancashire, and there first 3 children were born Manchester, in 1900 they are in Potternewton Leeds , but there 4th child Alice Hulse was born in Wortley, in 1895... now i dont know if that is Wortley in Leeds or Wortley in Sheffield.

And im sorry i dont see a connection with Samuel/Sarah Sincup in 51 census.

Ciderdrinker: Thankyou will look into William sincup on the 51 census.

It was the name Margeret Phillips lodger that caught my eye.

Levi Phillips was mentioned earlier.

Just found the 41 census with Thomas in and saw someone had connected to there tree...

Looks like Thomas died in 1846. aged 30 so dont think it is the same person as mine
