I looked at the burial record for John Wilson at Harome on 23 Sept 1869, age 50.  The only additional fact is that he was "of Harome".

Harome registers are listed at NYRO as 1600-1653 & 1678-1691 covering bapts, marrs & burs, 1863-1999 bapts, 1863-1978 marrs & 1863-2002 burials.

The microfilm for burials starts with an entry on 31 Oct 1863, prior to that (according to a member of staff at NYRO) the Harome burials were recorded with the Helmsley parish registers.  I was unable to find a burial for Jane Wilson dying S1862 on the Helmsley burials microfilm.  Also looked for her in the registers for Kirkbymoorside but there is a gap from 1858 to 1865.

There are a number of Wilson burials at Harome around that time:-
Joseph of Kirkbymoorside 29 Oct 1864 age 26
Emma of Harome 26 June 1865 age 26
Ann of Harome 29 July 1865 age 49
William of Harome 23 January 1866 age 85
Johanna of Kirkbymoorside 23 January 1869 age 18
Isaac of Harome 5 Sept 1869 age 72
Mary Alena of Harome 23 Oct 1872 age 2
Elizabeth of Harome 15 December 1874 age 58
Benjamin of Harome 8 May 1875 age 2
Tom of Harome 21 December 1875 age 3 weeks
Frederick William of Harome 25 June 1879 age 20
John of Harome 14 April 1884 age 69
Jane Elizabeth of Harome 18 August 1884 age 6 months
Annie of Harome 7 May 1887 age 51
(I stopped looking at end of 1887)

There are two marriages for Wilson girls at Harome - Sarah Hannah to Henry Horner on 31 Dec 1868 and Eliza to Thomas Dawson on 14 Oct 1884.

Some Wilson burials at Helmsley I noticed when looking for Jane:
Robert of [Huth?] 29 Oct 1862 age 27
Elizabeth of East Moors 13 Nov 1862 age 28
Christopher of Pockley 15 Nov 1862 age 25
Mary of Brandsby 27 Nov 1862 age 49

Probably none of these will fit into your Wilson line, but may be of use to someone else!

Thanks so much for looking this up for me!

This John Wilson and the John Wilson who was shepherd at West Newton Grange (in 1851 and 1861 census) are, I strongly believe, one and the same.

Now to track down the inquest report in the newspaper of the time.  :-)
