Reading through I've realised I have missed one link. John Kingsnorth Pullen who Married Charlotte Whenham/Wenham, there son William Wenham Pullen married Mary Swan and one of there sons William John Pullen married Mary Elizabeth Pullen (born Mcgrath). There son Thomas Warrick Pullen is my dad's grandfather. So Now John Kingsnorth Pullen is my dad's great-great-great grandfather and he is my g-g-g-g-grandfather.

I like the reference to the Jet Black Hair. That is what got me started on Genealogy quite a few years back. One particular line in my family has carried the same gene for centuries and it has always resulted in Black hair and very dark Brown eyes. This has variously been referred to as Spanish, European, African.

Hmm well I thought that was strange, Scottish was the supposed ancestors home. I have now gone back to the mid 1200's with the family and they lived in the border counties of N/E England. Although throughout the centuries many have moved about England and then throughout the world.

A DNA test revealed Celtic origin and through that early Celtic migrations from Moorish origins. So they were accidentally right, UK, Spain, Europe, Nth Africa.
Hmm so that's where my Black hair and Brown eyes comes from, probably yours too. ;D Not much Norman Blood in me, yet my brothers were all born with Blondie hair and fair eyes and don't have the same gene.........No it wasn't the milkman. :o Just a freak of nature. 8)

There is a lovely long biography of Jesse Pullen on a tree on ancestry (which I think is what you mean Neil)

Jesse Pullen baptised 5 April 1795 to parents William Pullen and Sarah Pullen (nee Wills) in Kentish village of Chilham

Jesse married Harriett Kingsnorth in Margate 20 oct 1818 at St john's.  After birth of Mary Ann in 1819 and George in 1821 they decided to emigrate ...

regards,
   Ros

Adding William Pullen 1764-1843  and Sarah Wills 1769-1846 both born and died in Chilham Kent

I have also found

William Pullen 1764-1843 has parents Robert Pullen 1724-1791 - Mary Frost 1730-1797

Sarah Wills has parents William/s Wylls/Wills 1731-1801 - Mary Burchett 1729-1800

I've researched they're children which does date back to William Pullen whos son was Jesse Pullen.

Thanks for all that information It's amazing, All on dad's mums side they have it, My sister has jetblack hair (when its not dyed). Dad has it, my nan has it and all of her siblings had jetblack hair, uncertain on the eyes, as we only know my sister and nan had blue eyes, and unsure on her siblings they're all deceased. But It's amazing to think they date back to the 1200's.

Hmm Well a long, long time before the 1200's actually. But that's as far as I can see any reference to my family. Two woodcutters in the Black Forests of Durham. They were employed by the Bishop of Durham to cut and prepare wood for him. 1268 AD. Our name is of Celtic origin Todd meaning Fox!

The Celts settled in UK and intermingled see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celts
Somewhere between 1000 to 450 BC depending on what variety and they mixed with the Britons. Later invasions from the Norsemen altered the mix. I don't know about you but I found the whole thing fascinating and brought to life my ancient history lessons from long ago school days.

You will find that people in Britain moved around much more than we normally envisioned, wars, famines, diseases, work all played a part.

You can just Google things up now, surprising what you might find.

You will find this interesting:

I Find it absolutely fasinating, Thanks for the links Neil that is amazing stuff to read, I've also found a couple of links which have led me to trace back as far as my 9th great grandparents, though I'm still searching for more. They were mid 1660's there's still a long way to go. But Not a few days ago not knowing much about our family to now having all this info just fasinates me. I love all that old school ancient ancestry history sort of stuff.
