sorry I missed your comment re the birth of Gilbert.   I did wonder about this but thought that maybe the lovely Canadian air had something to do with it!!!

I suppose the only way would be to get a copy of the birth cert

ps I am never offended by observations like this life is full of surprises and most definitely when you are doing your family tree

Since Roots Chat doesn't give out personal information, I don't know who I'm talking to.
I have all the printed records of all the items listed here, right to the address where Gilbert and Mary Belle Short lived in Galashiels before immigrating to Canada.

From what I have read, it is all correct.

As for George Robson, he did have an interesting life.  I have a picture of him with wife Lucy.
He apparently lied about his age to get into the service for WW1, then lied about it again to serve in WW2.  One note in my mother's list of family information was that he was wounded at Dieppe.
I can not find any service record or death information.
