Banging my head
« on: Thursday 05 July 12 14:37 BST (UK) »
Hi I seem to be banging my head with this one, Lucy Morville was one of the witnesses at the Peterloo Massacre 16 Aug 1819 and was at the trail of Henry Hunt, John Knight, Joseph Johnson, John Thacker Saxton, Samuel Bamford, Joseph Healey, James Moorhouse, Robert Jones, George Swift, and Robert Wilde, for an alleged conspiracy, to alter the law by force and threats; and for convening and attending an illegal, riotous, and tumultuous meeting at Manchester, on Monday the 16th of August, 1819: before Mr. Justice Bayley and a special jury, at York, on the 16th of March, 1820, and ten following days: with the proceedings on Mr Hunt's motion in the Court of King's Bench for a new trial; and the addresses of the several dependants on being brought up to receive judgment.
In her statement she was 39 year old and having three children I do know one was Joseph born 1810  who is my  3rd great grandfather but don’t know the other two. I have been looking around to find them but they seem to be nowhere can anybody help in this matter as I do not know where to try now.

I can only find Joseph's baptism on LancsOPC & FamilySearch - perhaps the other children were from an earlier marriage & had a different surname or they may have been her husband's from a previous marraige (ie step-children) - just ideas

On www.Lan-opc.org.uk there are only two Morvill marriages at St. Leonards, Middleton:

Betty Morvill to a Ralph Howarth in 1830 and a Mary Ann Morvill to a Henry Fazakerley in 1832.

They might be worth pursuing.
