Hi Margaret,

Well I have done very little on this family of Hall's, I was answering the request of another member! about which marriage of many!! William Hall's was his the Wool stapler. I had to start a new thread as the look up board does not allow one to post images, so I had to post this marriage image of William Hall & Mary Taylor 1812 on this new thread. Since posting the other member seems to have lost interest  ??? as I have tried to contact him by PM (thats a private message) and had no reply. (It happens often on this website as they  request something and never return to find the outcome.)

I did have suspicions there may be another earlier marriage as William Hall of Briggate Leeds as he was mentioned being there in 1800 in some record in Google books. (Though his dad could have been named William as well living at Briggate Leeds).

Thomes Henry Hall -William's youngest son of his 2nd marriage to Mary Taylor was baptised in Birstall 1844 parish abode Leeds in born 1824 of William & Mary Hall, Woolstapler and that was the only sibling of William anyone knew about until you came on the website.
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

More information! Thomas Henry Hall had a brother, Phillip Taylor Hall, born about 1819, died July 1837, in his 18 th year. There was a large gap between the marriage and first child of William and Mary...all 10 children were mentioned in William's will in 1828.
Deaths
"July 14, at Headingley, in his 18th year, Phillip Taylor, 5th son of the late William Hall, wool agent, and eldest son of Mrs Hall, of Leeds".

John Asbridge, hat manufacturer, and son of William Asbridge, also a hat manufacturer,

lived in Cockermouth between about 1775 and 1843. He was twice married, first to Mary Brown in 1804

and then to Ann Wrangham in 1829, Mary having died whilst giving birth to twins (John and Mary) in 1805.

From the second marriage came Ann in 1831. John's sister, Isabella, married William Hall of Leeds,

also a hat manufacturer, in 1799 and John was co-bounder for the bond for this marriage.  William Hall, 27 to Isabella Asbridge, 21 in Cockermouth in 1799

Hi Dave...a beautful day here.
We believe that the reason for Thomas's late baptism may have been that he was to inherit from the estate of his half brother and maybe needed proof of age. James Asbridge Hall batchelor, a son of William and Isabella, died in 1844, and Thomas was mentioned in his probate.

Thomas was born in Leeds where William and Mary lived until William's death in 1828 (his will states Leeds as his dwelling place).

It is interesting to note that another occupant in the house rented by Mary as a widow, was George Milner, whose daughter Thomas eventually married. Mary obviously moved here after the death of William as she was left an annuity in the will and money was left for the maintenance of Phillip and Thomas, as minors.

Hi

Quote you"'a beautiful day here' not had one of them since we had a week in May this year of hot weather, most of the year has been soggy and still is.
Joke going around UK is Westest drought on record' since Norfolk declared drought conditions in Feb this year.

Now having ages of William Hall, age 27 in 1799-age 40 in 1812- and age 58 in 1828 = born 1770 to 1772

Speaking of May! Its going to be 'maybe's' until something positive is found, therefore finding William's fathers name and his death year to see if there is a Will/Probate of his father also maybe a grave epitaph.

Have you found any suggestions as to his a father's name

Dobby
