Is anyone able to find me a William Ellbourn born 1797 who lived in Barrowden, Rutland - wife is Ursula ;
children Henry 1824 and William 1827.
Would be great to find them and see if any more siblings come to light.
Thanks in advance,

Hello

I have looked in both the 41 and 51 for Barrowden and I cannot find any Ellbourn's.  I have searched the 51 index for Rutland and still no Ellbourn's.

Maybe Mike will do more of a search Leicester way to see if they crossed the border.

Greeting's Paul....

Following drawing a blank for Leicestershire & Rutland 51 ~61.

;D I was about to toss it over to  you for 41. Censuses  ;D

Only two Small families under the names of Ellbourn & Ellbourne found on the whole of UK 1861. Census
in the villages of Chesham & Amersham Buckinghamshire...
And one Thomas servant in Yeovill Sumerset

Cougar...

Looking at my maps Barrowden sits right on the border of Rutland and Northamptonshire
and seeing that Barrowden is mentioned as a  Sub Register district of Uppingham on the Northamptonshire Villages census returns.

Worth a post on the Northamptonshire section of this site ?

Hi you two
Thank you so much for your time and effort - only just started in the inlaws so don't have much on them at all.
Now, you are both going to hate me - just discovered I put down William Ellbourn instead of William Cliff. (Ellbourns married Cliff's)
It was William Cliff that came from Barrowden - William Ellbourn I haven't found yet.   Sorry about that - knew this lot would be a nightmare even before I started it.
Could I possibly beg another try, this time with the surname Cliff - please???
Thanks Cougar

Hehehe easy mistake to make.

I will have a look on the 1841 census when I get back from a 2 day trip.  I'm sure Mike will supply you with the 51 details.

Hi Cougar

My Grandmother was a Cliff from Ketton. She is descended from Cliff(e)'s in Morcott and Barrowden. There are many Cliff's from Barrowden and it has been very difficult to trace back when so many with the same first name where born within a few years of each other.

Check the IGI on the LDS site with batch numbers 8403031 and 8232733 and you'll see what I mean! The former lists a William Cliffe born in 1797 son of William and Mary.

Good luck!

Mike
