Did Fanny's death certificate mention Samuel still alive or deceased?

Unfortunately Victorian death certificates in this era don't show the marital status.

I think that the 1903 death is her husband Samuel.  If he is buried at MGC there is no MI.

Cando, the headstone erected by Samuel answers my query.

OK :)

Perhaps Samuel is buried at the same location but no MI.  MGC are always helpful with burial information.

Rhonday May ….  Hy Walter MITCHELL aged 71, died 1935 Northcote, Parents Samuel MITCHELL and Fanny THOMPSON is a match.  On Fanny’s death certificate, Samuel MITCHELL, husband, was the informant.

cando …..  Have now got death certificate for Samuel MITCHELL , and from that and death certificate for Fanny, I know they were both buried at the Melbourne General Cemetery.
I also have photos in an album taken at Geelong, that I can look at again, and try and identify people in.  I had assumed that when Samuel MITCHELL arrived in Geelong he probably came to Melbourne, but if Jane Elizabeth was born there, they were probably there for some time.

Sparrett …. Have got a copy of the notice in the argus re Samuel MITCHELL arriving at Geelong and trying to contact his brothers.  Fantastic J

cando …  I assume that the Melbourne General Cemetery memorial is a copy of an inscription.  Nice.  I wandered about the cemetery in about 1982, but had no idea where or what I was looking for.  Thanks.   On your next post, you say if he is buried at MGC there is no MI  (?)  is that marriage information?

I have an album of photos that I was assuming came from another part of the family, not mitchells, but with the info I have got from you people today, I think the photos may be a mix from both sides of the family.  Anyway, the information has opened up some new leads and possibilities, many thanks.

If I was to load up some of these photos, is there people that could perhaps put a rough age on the photos from the clothing people are wearing in them?

MI = Memorial inscription.  Transcribed from a resouce produced by the Genealogy Society of Victoria.

I suggest you contact MGC for Samuel's burial location.  I have always received excellent service from the office staff.  Give ALL the relevant details on the cert ie place of death, date of death, date of interment etc.
