British Army death in India 1880s

Hello,

I am looking for information concerning the death of a relative in India in 1880.  The details are as follows:

Name: Henry Bangs (born 1832 in Mildenhall, Suffolk)
Regiment: 51st Foot
Regimental Number: 1121
Rank: Private
Date of Death: 2nd November 1880
Place of Death: Deolali, India

Henry Bangs was married with children and his widow (my husband's great aunt) returned to England on 13th November 1880.

I found the above information at the National Archives in Kew.  What I would now like to find out, if possible, is what he died of, where he is buried, and how to obtain a death certificate.

I'm hoping that someone can help me, or at least point me in the right direction :-)

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, I've tried FindMyPast and there is no information.  As far as I know, the National Archives carry the records of the 51st Foot in Victorian times, at least those that survive.   All I've been able to find concerning Henry Bangs are the Muster, Pay and Married Rolls from 1877 onwards and there is a note of his death on 2nd November 1880 and the fact that his family returned to England on 13th November.  Nothing further regarding his death is mentioned.  So, I would like to know if there is anywhere else I could search.  I've also tried the the India Office Family History website mentioned in this forum but their search engine doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

Try looking  at the NAT on line catalogue, you never know what it will throw up.

I looked at the muster &  pay rolls my self , could not find a mention of my man.

I've tried that and there is nothing that I don't know already.  A very experienced family researcher went to Kew on my behalf and he could only find the information that I have supplied.  I have access to the records at both Ancestry and FindMyPast but they don't tell me much either, not even when and where Henry Bangs died.  However, I presume his regiment must have recorded his death and that there must be a death certificate somewhere.  I suspect that he was buried at the Christian Cemetery in Nashik-Deolali, but I can't be sure.
