I have Duncan McCALLUM as born 1834 in Millicent SA died Sep 21 1923 Glencoe SA. In a newspaper death notice it says he was born 1854 in Woodside SA.Which one please.

Do you know his parents names or when he married & to whom?

There are a few Duncan McCallum's on the SA index but none are matching the year/s you have given.

The one that died in 1923 has his age listed as 69yrs.

The marriage shows him as 25yo, so born 1854.
Where did you get your information from?

Thank you Merlin. The info comes from family so it seems the date was wrong.1854 seems to fit in.I am trying to find where their land was at Glencoe as I live 20 mins away. I am trying the library tomorrow for rates records or maps. Chris.

I can't see his birth in SA or any births with the parents names as Duncan McCALLUM & Mary CAMERON.

Are you sure he was born there & not o/s or interstate?

There is a birth in 1840 in SA for parents Duncan and Mary McCallum, nee Cameron.

Duncan And Mary immigrated on July 10 aboard "Dauntless". They settled on a dairy farm  "Ardtornish" at Modbury. Duncan was apparently born at Woodside and the family moved South in 1863. H e had 5 brothers and 3 sisters .Dugald 1840-1929, Hugh 1841-1923, Alexander 1843-?, Anne 1844-1943, John 1846-1923, Archibald 1848-1922, Janet 1850-1925 and Mary Cameron 1852-1937, Duncan being the youngest.
