Thanks for that, I'm sorry if I did cross any lines, but was unaware of the rules for the 1911 census, I would like help in tracing the Roddicks a bit further back if anyone can and is allowed to help.
I believe that Thomas Roddick's wife, Elizabeth's maiden name was Sheen But I'm not certain, if so it would be nice to find out some info about her.
I think there were other members of the Roddick family living in cardiff during and after the War(II) My father seems to remember one being the landlord of a=n old pub on the top of Rumney hill.
I think I can look into that a bit further in Cardiff Library.

One last question, is there a part of the forum that gives tips on which organisation is the best to sign up with and how to go about putting together all the info one gathers.

Thanks
Sandercock/Sandercott

There are various threads on the Census and Resource Discussion board about the best value paying sites as it really depends what resources you want to look at.  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,145.0.html

Many libraries have free access too.

There are also lots of other free sites to search as well.  The 1881 census is free so well worth looking at that.   www.freebmd.org.uk has many civil registration records.  Freecen, Freereg etc.

regards
Andrea
