Hi PineVista, did you ever find the George Millington you were looking for?  My Great Grandfather George Millington fought in the first world war, I don't know if it was him but his daughter is still alive so I will ask her if the details you provided are his.  Hopefully I can get back to you later today or over the weekend.

Thank you for responding after so long. No I have not found information on George. All I have is his name and he served in  the RFA 40 Battery, 43rd Brigade during the early battles of the war. He received a field promotion in the spring of 1915.

George and my grandfather were friends, both were signallers and survived the war. My grandfather tried to locate him in 1938, but I do not know if they got back together.

I would appreciate any help you can offer.

I'm sorry to have got your hopes up, I've just checked with my Great Aunt and it wasn't her dad.  I wish you all the best of luck with your search.  Hopefully some-one else will be looking soon and will come across your post.
