1881 Census help please! :) **COMPLETED Thanks**
« on: Wednesday 27 June 12 00:02 BST (UK) »
Am really bemoaning the 'new' IGI site which doesn't allow you to stroll from house to house through a village and wondering if someone could help please?

I'm researching the history of Ivy Cottage, Alton and have details of it's occupants in 1871 and 1891 but not from the 1881.

In both the other censuses, the property is located within one or two properties of the Talbot Inn.  Fortunately I know who lived in the Talbot in 1881 and so was wondering if someone could please look them up in the 1881 and then take a look at a couple of properties either side of this entry to see if Ivy Cottage shows up?

The family at the Talbot were - Dorothy Lees, born 1824 Alton Innkeeper, nephew Thomas Weston b 1853 joiner, niece Dora Weston b 1859 Alton.
and it's on    RG11
Piece/Folio:   2743 / 25
Page Number:   21

Could someone look them up, then nip nextdoor to see who's living at Ivy Cottage???  :)

Many thanks
- Aitch

Hi
I have looked at two pages before and after Talbot Inn and can't see an Ivy Cottage.

Oh rats!  The cottage is very old (1661) and named in both the 1871 and 1881 so I felt sure they'd name it in 1881 too!

Thanks very much for taking time to look anyhow - very much appreciated :)

Thanks very much for this info.  I'll squirrel it all away in case I'm able to  pick up any more leads. :)
