Barwicks, Isle of Thanet, Kent, England
« on: Tuesday 26 June 12 17:06 BST (UK) »
I am doing research on my father's BARWICK side of the family. I have researched through to William Barwick, John Ebenezer Barwick and Vincent Arthur Barwick (my father).
I am at a loss as to who Wiliam Barwick
s father is (William was married to Ann J. Hole Barwick). I thought it was James, but am not now sure.
I found a great site one time for parish records of the Isle of Thanet, Kent, England, but I no longer can find the site. Can you assist me in which site would provide those parish records. The parish is St. Peters. Also, if anyone is related to this family, please contact me.  I would like to find out if there are more relatives still living in England.

St Peter Thanet (also known as Broadstairs) does have some entries on the IGI and there is a William BARWICK baptised there 1817 son of William and Susannah see http://www.familysearch.org which would fit with your chap (father of John Ebenezer) who says he was born St Peter c1817 on the 1861 census.

Incidentally, I couldn't see John Ebenezer having a son names Vincent Arthur ............. was he known by another name?

Thank you for your reply clarifying who John Ebenezer Barwick's father was. I must have been overtired when I submitted the query. John Ebenezer's son was Percy George Barwick and Percy's son was my father Vincent Arthur Barwick. I skipped Percy altogether when I wrote for information.

There is a interesting piece of information that was given to my brother and me on separate occasions and years apart regarding our Barwick family. According to my father, his family had spoken about how their Barwick ancestors (a father and son) had sailed from Scotland where they lived, to England and the ship they were on got in wreck near Goodwin Sands and how both were rescued, and then returned to Scotland and brought their family back to the Manchester (I believe I have that this correct) /Dover area.  I am hoping this rings a bell with some of the Barwicks whose families originally settled in that area.
Thank you again for your help!
