MARY ANDERSON
« on: Tuesday 26 June 12 10:39 BST (UK) »
Hi there,  I'm looking for the birth and/or marriage record of a Mary Anderson, born about 1864 in Newbliss, Co. Monaghan.  Her parents were Robert Anderson and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown).  She married a George Nixon in about 1881 or at least that is when their first daughter was born.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

I think your problem is probably going to be the date.. from the census returns it looks like Mary was born before 1864 - so there will be no birth cert. You will need to search records for the parish the Anderson family lived in for a baptism.

see related thread : Nixon - Anderson
and census returns for reference : 1901   1911

Thanks Shane

I have the census records from both the 1901 and the 1911 and managed to find the grave in Londonderry City Cemetery.  Was looking for her birth to try and get her mother's maiden name so i could then find her parents marriage.

The related thread you put on was a post i put on a while ago.

Many thanks

Joanne

The information from the previous thread and the census returns are so that people can see the results of previous searches, and have all the clues before searching for records for you.

Newbliss is in Killeevan Church of Ireland parish, but I dont see any mention of records for it in the RCBL or National Archives. update - see below

Thanks Shane

I thought Newbliss was Clogher Parish.

just found a more recent RCB record list- and Killeeven is listed, and it shows baptisms and marriages are available back to 1811.

There's no mention of baptism or marriage transcripts for this parish on RootsIreland (pay-website), but maybe in time they will add some...

also found an entry for Newbliss town on Lewis : Newbliss
