Hi Becci

Have not come across Elizabeth Joan Long but had a quick look and she was born June Q 1917 Cheltenham 6a 629 with mother Mackintee. Her birth certificate will give you her parents.

Thank you 1930 information that is the address they where at in 1911 Ada Emily Long is my great grandmother and can not find a death for her or my great grandfather Alfred George Long he is missing in the 1911 census also.

Regards
Joy

hi Joy

Yes I think we may have to get the certificate.  There are no Mackintee's on the census's at all!  Elizabeth Joan was my grandmother but due to family 'breakup's I never met her, my sister and I have gone back a couple of hundred years without problem on both sides of the tree but are stumped by someone as recent as 1917!

I often get sidetracked on ancestry and quite enjoy it so I will have another look for you.

regards
Becci

Hello Joy, I have just come around in a huge circle!  Your Alfred G Long  I have today discovered was the younger brother of my gg grandfather Robert.  (parents Alfred & Rhoda)  Roberts son (my g grandfather) is Walter Seymour Long (b 1882).  He was a police officer in South Africa!  His daughter was Elizabeth Joan (born 1915 whose mother was Adams we think)

We are just looking at some information online about the family.

I do hope you see this message

Hello Becci, Walter Seymour Long was a police officer in South Africa he married a Muriel Anne Bailey their daughter was called Doreen Seymour Long Born 1915 Died 1968 Married William Stewart Hosford they had a son called Barry Hosford he posted on Ancestry notice board it was a long time ago and I sent a reply but had no answer. Walter, Muriel and Doreen came over to visit in 1921 altogether, Walter came over often to visit his brother Robert William Long. I have some photo's of the family at Chitterne Farm Chitterne Wiltshire which I got from the daughter from marriage of Robert William Long's son Geoffrey Robert Wallis Long.

Alfred Long Married Rhoda Jane Denziloe she was from Bridport Dorset they are a interesting family.

If you want to know more send me a pm message.

Regards Maxine

Oh dear back to square one then.....this is not who I was looking for.  But my Elizabeth Joan Harcombe (nee Long) also born 1915 has definite links to South Africa and visited in 1959 (by boat)
Thank you for the information
