Dale family, Whitby area
« on: Sunday 24 June 12 12:54 BST (UK) »
Hi,
After a long time searching I am coming up blank, I am wondering if anyone can help.

I have a Hannah Dale born abt 1766 in Whitby, father named as John Dale. Can anyone find the date of birth for John Dale, his marrage date and wifes name (maiden name). also I have Hannah married to a George Fletcher, both married at Lythe 1791, is this the correct Hannah Dale. Thanking you all very much for your time with this problem of mine, it would be a great help to find the answers.

Regards
Mike Fletcher

Hi you two,

Also, see what you think to these :

Marriage: 15th December 1764
John Dale
Elizabeth Galilee
Both of full age    - 21 years
Parish Church Of Whitby, Yorkshire

Which should fit with the baptism you mentioned below :

Christening date: 28th February 1766
Hannah Dale
Birth date: 2nd February 1766
Father : John Dale
Whitby, Yorkshire

Kind regards,

Pels. :)

As I'm sure you're already aware Mick, there are a couple baptism's around the Whitby area which could fit the criteria for Hannah's father :

Christening date: 7th March 1738
John Dale
Father : John Dale
Lythe, Yorkshire

Christening date: 18th November 1739
John Dale
Father : John Dale
Lythe, Yorkshire

I wonder if this is the burial for the first child :

Burial date 5th October 1738
John Dale
Place of burial :
St Mary's, Whitby

No age given, which is a shame because it might cancel out one of them.

I would imagine the baptism below is Hannah's brother :

Christening  9th Apr 1768
Thomas Galilee Dale
Father's name:   John
Mother's name: Elizabeth
Whitby, Yorkshire

Christening 21st June 1806
John Galilee Dale
Birth date: 20th June 1806
Parents : Thomas and Elizabeth Dale
Whitby Yorkshire

If we could tie these in with the Hannah who married George Fletcher in 1791.

:-\

There is also a John Dale christened 18th November 1739 at Lythe....father shown as John Dale

Also a John Dale christened 9th November 1746 at Hinderwell....father shown as Thomas Dale

There is also a John Dale marriage to Elizabeth Galilee on 15 Dec 1764 at the parish church, Whitby ( as mentioned by pels)

Also John Dale to Elizabeth Child on 23rd July 1766 at the parish chuch, Hinderwell

Also John Dale marrying Jane Parker 5th June 1767 at Lythe

This will be the entry fletch has.....Hannah Dale born 2 Feb 1766, christened 28 Feb 1766 at Whitby, father John Dale

Hinderwell is just a few miles further north of Lythe/Whitby.....

I think the marriage quoted fits well, unless we can prove different !  :)

Providing I'm not looking at the wrong couple, the age should be right for Hannah Dale,

Date of burial : 12 Feb 1842
Hannah Fletcher
Aged: 77 years
Approximate year of birth: 1765
St Thomas's, Glaisdale

~~~~~~~~~~
Date of burial : 9th March 1845
George Fletcher
Age: 82 years
Approximate year of birth: 1763
St Thomas's, Glaisdale
