Something is still going wrong I think, not that I want to nag...

If you scanned at 300dpi I would have expected the file to be much bigger than 148kb.  Have a look at Cazza's scanning tutorial at the top of the resources board, and see if that helps solve the problem:  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,198165.0.html

Also, you don't need to make a 148kb file smaller to post here - 500kb is the maximum file size you're allowed, so you would be well within that

Like this old chap his suit has been around a long time,you don't see many flyless trousers in the 1870's which is when this was taken.His beard called a Newgate Frill was popular in the 50's & 60's with a lot of older men keeping them all their lives.
She's a bit more up to date in pretty much standard 1870's wear.The cardstock with rounded corners means 1875 is the earliest date & probably no later than 1880.
