Is it possible to re-restore this photo? *Completed*
« on: Friday 22 June 12 04:23 BST (UK) »
This photo was restored many years ago, I've had this copy for over 20 years and I have not seen the original. From what I can tell the original fragment must have been only part of her face as everything else looks false. She was born in Australia in 1867.
Thanks
April

Hi April :)

This is not a restored photo, as such - it is an overdrawn or overpainted enlarged photograph.  They were very common once upon a time, before proper photographic enlargers were invented.  Enlarged photos were blurry and indistinct, so drawing or painting was done over them to define features and clothing etc.

They usually do look a bit unnatural  ;)

Roy
GUIDE FOR PHOTO RESTORATIONS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SCANNER BED IS CLEAN AND SCAN AT A RESOLUTION OF 300-600 WITH THE SCALE AT 100% MINIMUM.

If you would like a coloured version, details such as hair colour , eyes and clothing etc.  if known  would be helpful to restorers

Regards Roy
