Thomas & Maria were both living in Baker Lane in 1851 and he was a Coal Porter.  I have the 1841 census but not the index so I am afraid that it would take too long to find them in 1841.  I suggest you get the marriage cert to find his father's name and then try to locate him in 1851 which is indexed.

There is an index for 1841 Lynn, I think, but I have not got it.  You could ask at Lynn Library.

Best wishes, if I can be of further assistance please do ask.

Thanks, teddybear. I have sent for the certificate of marriage for Thomas and Maria to find his parents, I already know hers.
I am not able to go to Lynn library as I live in Cyprus, do you know if they have an online service?

If you know her parents I could look for them in 1851.

That is very kind of you,  believe Maria's mother was Susan Nobes (nee  Darby) and was listed as her sister in 1861 and her father was Joseph Cocksedge Nobes.  Susan's parents were Edward Darby and Phoebe Rumbolds, married in 1796.
I am finding the Aldridge/Aldrige/Oldridge line difficult because they kept changing the spelling. I believe that Thomas died in 1858, just before his son was born but cannot find a record of his death either.
Any help would be appreciated,
Kind regards
June

This gives you yet another place to look.  Walsingham is a really lovely part of the county. It is also a very important Anglican Shrine, one of the most important in England.

We visited Cyprus last year and stayed at Paphos in the Cynthiana Beach Hotel, a really lovely place. I loved the mountains on the way back from Nicosia, villages etc.  The roads were a bit difficult to drive on but hey, it was only a hire car!!!

Best wishes.

Hi
Thanks very much for the info,it all helps to put flesh on the bones.
I live in the foothills of the Troodos mountains and yes it is lovely. Our village is so small we haven't got a tavern or a shop! About 40 or so scattered houses, a couple of goat farms and a beautiful church. It is idyllic but not suited to anyone who likes a nightlife!!
I have discovered only this week that there is a LDS centre just setting up in Limassol, about 45mins from me so I will go there next.
Thanks again
June
