I should have done a Mallars Lambeth web search before now!!
I've been tackling this one from the point of view of trying to prove William Edward AUSTIN born Bow, London 8 Nov 1869 (1939 Register) who married Alice Maud CARTER * was one and the same person as the William Edward Sinclair Fitz AUSTEN whose birth was registered Mile End Old Town in 1869.
There's a separate thread about this here on RootsChat,
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=808750.msg6698851#msg6698851refers.
* 27 Oct 1894 Haggerston cert. shows William Edward as 24 clerk resid. 70 Middleton Rd, s/o William AUSTIN, engineer; Alice Maud as 21 resid. 14 a Gealand Rd, Dalston, d/o John CARTER, fish salesman; Both signed; Wit.: James Arthur BIRCH, Ellen BEER
I convinced myself they were indeed one and the same person given the birth cert. of said William Edward Sinclair Fitz AUSTEN showed he was born 8 Nov 1869.
The 8 Nov 1869 birth cert. shows he was born 3pm to William Mallars Fitz AUSTEN, porter, and Sarah Jane BIGGS formerly BLAKE. Informant mother S J AUSTEN, same address, registered 20th Dec
Sarah I've followed around a bit and updated the FamilySearch tree for.
But the wonderfully names William Mallars Fitz AUSTEN remains elusive prior to the above 1869 birth of son (twin of Ada)
And his occupation of railway porter does rather vary from "engineer".
I'll now go back and reread the entire thread but am rather excited to find this thread given the DNA matches myself, two maternal aunts and several cousins have to a descendant of William Edward married to Alice CARTER.
A descendant of Sarah's, from either of her partners, may show up as a DNA match on MyHeritage (also on GEDMatch) to my match, depending on how many generations down to present day we are talking about here.
