The first non-English language newspapers have just been added to Trove, the Library's free online search service. Through our Australian Newspapers Digitisation Program, selected German, Italian and Estonian community newspapers have now been digitised. They include German newspapers The Adelaider Deutsche Zeitung (1851 and 1860-1862), Suedaustralische Zeitung/ Sud-Australische Zeitung (1850-1851) and Sud-Australische Zeitung (1860-1874), an Italian newspaper, Il Giornale Italiano (1932-1940) and an Estonian newspaper Meie Kodu (1949-1954).

Through the Library’s newspaper digitisation project, 7 million pages, from a total of 270 newspapers, are now available online through Trove.
DEWSTOWE/DUSTOW, WADE, REED, ROGERS, GARRETT, HAY, KERR, BAS-TED HUSBAND  COOKE/COOK, GOWER, JEFFREYS,DAVIES, OATES or OATS, , GREASLEY/GREASLY, BIRD, BOSWELL, WILLEY, WHEADON, PARKER, ABBOTT?(maybe not related), JONES, QUINN, SCOTT, ISBESTER or ISBISTER?, LLOYD, RICHARDS, WHETTALL

Hi lyn,

I notice that you're in Australia? As luck would have it, if you join NLA (National Library of Australia and their e-resources) you can get access to what's known as the Gale Collection.  FREE! It covers 1600 to 1900 with a variety of newspapers, then from 1785 to 2005 or 2006, with The Times. You do have to wait for them to send a card out by snail mail to get access and it is VERY addictive, especially when you realise that you're reading about things that happened before Australia was even known about :)

But if they dont have what I want I will go down to Melbourne I have just got a library card for the National Library of Australia . Searching my family is so addictive and I laugh when people say haven't you finished searching yet. Take Care Lynette  :D

It's a small world I have only lived here for about five years and I love it I would never go back to Melbourne now. Take Care Lynette
