Sorry for the delay in replying, work keeps getting in the way.

The Lily Martin I am interested in was born c.1905 and I *think* she is the one who gets a job at Whittingham Asylum / Hospital in Barbara Jacobs book.  Simon, any information you could obtain would be appreciated.  I haven't yet read Gail Newsham's book, but it is on my list of things to do.

I don't know if it will help, but her parents were Tomas Martin and Bella Sankey and she was born in Walton-Le-Dale, one of 12 children

TIA

Stuart

Hi Stuart

My turn for apologies, sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you, it's been a busy week  :)

I have sent your information to Gail, fingers crossed she may be able to furnish further details

Regards

Hi Stuart

Gail Newsham has been back in touch, this is her email to me

The only thing I can tell you about Lily Martin is that she did play for the team round about 1923.  She married a chap called Collinson and didn't play on after that to the best of my knowledge.  They had a chip shop on Guildhall street in Preston and her son Derek ran it for a good number of years (that's where I met him) but I think he has passed away now and the chip shop has since closed down.

Sorry I couldn't tell you any more than this but I hope it helps

Kind regards

Simon
