Hi Duggy

Paragraph take off as I got the wrong end of the stick as they say laugh. ???

I think Woodhorn used to be under the Morpeth Registration district
but it certainly will have archives at the Northumberland Central Registration
district.

This is what Genuki says about the records if it helps (suggest they should be at Woodhorn amongst other places)

http://www.genuki.bpears.org.uk/NBL/Lucker/ChurchRecords.html

According to their online catalogue the have marriages 1769-1781 (ref EP 183/2) then a big gap to 1855. So maybe need to look at the bishops transcripts held by Durham as explained in the link above
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Thanks for the info...going through the Bishop's transcripts but it's like wading through treacle, going to start on Bamburgh next.

The man I am looking for is William Patrick, his wife was Anne, they started having children around 1803, they were all baptised NC in Warenford.

I am trying to find Anne's maiden name.

Thanks ...Doug

I have Lucker marriages to 1781 and no William Patrick.  There were only 5 marriages betwee 1776 and 1771.

Alas some records do get destroyed.

In that respect it was a good thing that the records were copied (with varying degrees of accuracy and completeness) onto the bishops transcripts.

I do think it is worth seeking out the bishops transcripts or at least finding out how complete they are

Bishop's Transcripts for the period 1769-1837 are deposited at Durham University Library Archives and Special Collections, Palace Green, Durham City.

After that its a case of searching surrounding parishes starting with Bamburgh as you indicated you were going to above. A lot of marriages took place in the brides home parish so if Anne was not from Lucker there is a good chance the marriage did not take place there.

As they had their children baptised in non conformist churches ie Presbyterian I had a look on Scotlandspeople.gov.uk website but could not see a marriage of a William Patrick and Anne there.

Yes..I've done exactly the same thing myself, thought of Toll marriages as well but to no avail. As you suggested I am just going to start at Bamburgh and work my way around. Have been on 2 years now so another year or so and i might get there...

Many thanks...Doug
