Just to let anyone who has used old-maps or is intending to use it, that they have permanently removed the enhanced zoom facility.

Oh, that's a shame - I use enhanced zoom all the time. Any thoughts on why they removed it?

I just had a quick look at a random map on 'old maps.' Wasn't there a 'hand' inside the map so you could easily move the map around? Now there are just the scroll bars top and side. On the map I selected, I only had one step of zoom (+) to zoom in - so the map was in two stages "zoomed in a bit" or "zoomed out a bit". Virtually useless on the particular map I looked at. No plus or minus zoom funtion bar on the left as there used to be.  :(

Most disappointing.  >:(

It could be they thought they were loosing customers for their pdf and printed maps.

I wondered if that may have been the case ...

I would rather they left the maps as they were but charged a small ( ;)) annual subscription fee to view them.  :-\

I had a quick look on their home page but couldn't see any mention of reduced access to maps.

Worth someone contacting them and asking. I work in the IT industry and it's worth saying that just because a feature in software or on a website has disappeared does not mean it is intentional!! They may have upgraded their website and lost this feature without realising it.

I wondered about this possibility, but Stan said it has been removed permanently.

If you look at http://www.aditnow.co.uk/community/viewtopic.aspx?t=6897&pid=1#msg98085 some one rang them up and was told they have taken it off, apparently it was a permanent thing. I agree with Ruskie that it would be acceptable to pay a reasonable subscription to  view them.

That discussion just about explains it all.  :-\ Don't know what I will do now. I never used to get along very well with old-maps, but adding the enhanced zoom made it so much easier, and I've now become a regular user. I have no need to purchase any of their maps to keep as a permanent record.

Disappointing.

I agree with the poster who recommended the NLS maps - they are excellent, and the overlay feature is a boon.
