Place name in Donegal
« on: Friday 08 June 12 21:04 BST (UK) »
One of my Irish ancestors was born in Donegal.  The place name I've been given is Twboyne - is that correct, or could it be Taughboyne?

Spelling variations were quite common- where did you get "Twboyne" from?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

It was the research done by my grandparents.  They probably couldn't read someone's writing or something.  I can't find it on Google Earth though.

There is also a townland Tievebane in Fahan Upper parish.

What were the names and dates for your ancestors?

That's brilliant.  I'll have a good look at that site later.  I didn't know it existed.  I've got ancestors from Sligo and Monaghan too, but I haven't really started on them yet!
