There was a Hugh Sweeney (wife Mary, according to daughter Jane's pension application) in Castledowey which is in Taughboyne Parish in 1836 but is listed in Raymoghy Parish in 1901 - townland straddled 2 parishes.

My ancestor was born in 1788, then joined the 9th Lancers when he was 16 and fought in Buenos Aires, the Peninsular and Walcheren, then when he retired he moved to Leeds.  He married a woman named Ann (don't know her maiden name though) in about 1814/15 (that is when his regiment was back in Ireland).  They did have a son also named Hugh born in about 1820.  I've only just discovered the existence of this son - I only knew about three of the daughters and he had four daughters and three sons!  I think 1836 might be a bit young to be getting married though.
