Where is he buried
« on: Friday 08 June 12 16:40 BST (UK) »
My g-g-grandfather died 2/8/1885 at 46 Verner St. in the markets area of Belfast. He was a catholic aged 59 and I assumed he would be buried in Milltown Cemetery.I contacted the office and found he was not buried there nor is he in the City Cemetery. Anyone out there with any advice please?COMPLETED

Perhaps buried in family plot outside Belfast- where was he born?
Did you search for burial on Belfast Cemeteries webiste (includes City, Roselawn & Dundonald)?
Have you searched for death notice in newspaper? sometimes gives funeral instructions.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

MaggieTag Thanks for your response. I'm sure his name would have been a big help. It was Daniel Barr.
Aghadowey. Thanks to you too. I did try the Belfast Cemeteries Website but without success

Hi,

Came across this earlier post on Rootschat that mentions Barr family and Verner Street. Might be helpful.

Aghadowey, you suggested looking for an obituary-something I hadn't thought of because it was so long ago. Could you advise on how to go about this. Are there any records on line? I am 50 miles from Belfast so personal visit to Newspaper Offices difficult. Will they respond to an e-mail enquiry. Thanks again!

There is also a cemetery at Clifton Street on the Antrim Road, which is now disused. It was primarily for the poor house dead but others Belfast residents were buried there.

The register is at

http://www.cliftonstreetcemetery.com/

Worth a try. Good luck

Hi, Scracka here,
You asked some time ago for informarion on Adam Loftus Lynn. I put an outline on the query site, which I reached by Googling "Samual Ferres Lynn", who by the way is Adam's nephew.  If you want further  information post it on the above site.
