Yes, I saw that but it is not unknown for name variations at other stages in life.

Apologies Ray, Sillgill, Toastbutler etc., for not giving enough information in my requests. I have done the research, starting with family memories and have not only photos of Sidney Frank Randall and Elizabeth Harriet Barkus, but copies of their burial cards. So going back through census information online was relatively easy - except that their marriage record was missing, despite the entry in the 1911 census of being married 27 years. Hence my request for comments on the accuracy/completion of the BMD index.
My name is not Rose, that part of my tree (RoseBaker) was an attempt to discover whether a distant relative was involved in a non-fatal naval shipwreck in the West Indies in about 1860. That research came to a standstill when I discovered that there were probably 3 possible fathers with the same name, all born within a couple of years of each other, in the same village (South Petherton).
My experience with Rootschat has so far been absolutely invaluable and I thank all those who offer their services so generously to all. I'm hoping to return the favour quite soon, for a limited timespan (1770-1820) and limited area (Salisbury and immediate area).
