St Patrick's Roman Catholic Chapel
Park Place
Toxteth
This large chapel stands on Park Place and was
built between 1821 and 1827 to designs by John Slater.. For all its severity and absurdity, St
Patrick's has become a famous and much loved Park Road landmark.
There were two small chapels between St Patrick's and Warwick
Street. Park Place Chapel was built on Park Road in 1833 by a strong
and active congregation of New Connexion Methodists who later
founded a chapel on Stanley Road. The small Hyslop Street Chapel
behind Park Place was built by the Wesleyan Methodists in the mid-
nineteenth century. It was later extended and used by a number of
Presbyterian congregations, either as a chapel, or as a mission hall.
The site of both chapels is now occupied by new housing.
