John Edwards born Pen y Bryn d 31 Dec 1830
« on: Sunday 27 May 12 03:30 BST (UK) »
Am not getting far with an early 20th century handwritten Tree relating to grtgrandfather who came to NZ 1874 Robert Price Edwards (b 17 Nov 1850). Salusbury/Whitchcote/Bowes/Judith Fowke/Thomas Jones (d 6 Nov 1779)/Edward Pierce/ (Pierce) Edwards/Hughes/Mary Roberts and places Denbigh/Pont y Glo farm/Gwyddelwern/Rhuddlan/Rhyl are in the picture but I can't shed real light on this paternal line.

Frederick's father died in 1831 without making a will. The administration of his estate on behalf of Susannah can be accessed here, diocese is St Asaph

Pen y Bryn came from the Hughes family. The 1820 will of Jane Hughes, mother of Susannah, is on the site as well. It was written in 1809 and John & Susannah were married at that time.

Am slow getting this! Saw ttrevor asked what I needed, specifically, to know, wanted to reply but unable to work out how... came here; found much information (thank you osprey) am yet to read. Last night rang father (b 1923, RG (Dick) Scott) to question validity of this handwritten will addressed to his aunt Hilda. He's blank though he visited family places in NWales. Then by entering 'Judith Bowes m John Salusbury', found its likely source in Burkes Peerage... am about to delve into it. My father an only child... most of Robert Price Edward's 14 children were without issue. Know nothing about any distant relatives, or the origins of this wealthy NWales family. Am curious too about possible Jewish blood...

The way to reply is what you've done. It's best to keep all the info on one thread.

there's another Hughes will at the NLW as well, that of Thomas, the father of Susannah and wife of Jane, who died in 1805.

 ;)

wrong relationship now corrected

Dear osprey... thank you very much indeed...after my fruitless travails, with one stroke you have our Edwards! So will accurate, around this pt anyway. After Robert (Price), William (Peter) d Wellington!, Fred R, Jane F b 25 Aug 1863, Sarah, Peter (d infant) Susanah (b 1857, d 20 Dec 1882), and last Jane (b 1860 d infant). Thomas had 2 dau; Jane P or F? 2 child. As well offspring, would like to know of Fred R. b 2 Feb 1855 Smallwood, Vicar of Holywell as failed to find.

er, how sure are you that he was a vicar? He's still at home in Rhyl with his widowed mother in 1881 and he's a builder's clerk. RG11/5528 folio 12 pg 18. His place of birth is given as Cwm in 1861 & 1881, and as Tremeirchion in 1871.
