During the process of registering a birth you are required to furnish the date and place of the marriage of the parents.
Arthur FEARN declared he married Annie AULT in 1883 in England...he was lying.  He couldn't even get the year of his marriage right.  If you don't give the place and date of marriage then the birth would be registered under both parents' names which would indicate illegitimacy.

ok still a bit confused here  ???

did he marry Annie AULT 1883 in England or was it a different year or he didn't marry her at all ??? until the marriage in Geelong 9th July 1923

Also on the marriage certificate Geelong 9th July 1923

for Annie Ault it states she was a widower " actual date unknown approx 30 years in England "

Information on death certificates is not reliable.  In this case the informant was an undertakers assistant.

The column headings need to be read to correctly interpret the information.

In this case the info is ........Married [at] 68 years [to] Annie Ault [Living]

Perhaps Annie was not present to give any information.  There were definitely two living children, possibly three with Louisa.

Cheers

Hello Ros

thats him

but as Cando has just said he wasn't married for 68 years

that would also mean he was married at the age of 5
he wasn't born until 1859  :)

thanks Cando

got it  now  ;D
