Henry Spencer
« on: Tuesday 22 May 12 04:22 BST (UK) »
Henry Spencer married Mary Wigg 1849. in the first 1/4 1849 Birmingham Warwickshire. Seeking details of his parentage and his occupation.

Managed to follow Hery and Mary's sons Oliver Henry aged 9  and brother George Dawson aged 11 to a boarding school at KingsWood King Norton.
The school seemed to be run by a Unitarian minister Joseph Heywood.

Many thanks, Hyjean

Many thanks KGarrad for the wealth of names you provided.
Never in a million years would I have associated our family with Ashby De La Zouch.

Everything appreciated very much.

Cheers, Hyjean

If this IS the right family - there are 77 Spencers in Ashby De La Zouche on the 1841 census!

Plenty of scope for relatives! ::)

You just need to find out who Henry's father and mother are now.

Henry Spencer and Mary Wigg( born Tunstall Suffolk) of Ashby De La Zouch, Leicester
Draper and Wife plus household are 100% definites.

Their son Oliver Henry Spencer immigrated to Adelaide from Plymouth on ship"North" disembarking 18/11/1875. (wife wife Geraldine and 3 children)

Mary Wigg's brother Edgar Smith Wigg emigrated to Adelaide in 1849 and set up a book shop and stationers-E.S.Wigg.He became wealthy and expanded his printing empire which is still the largest in Sth Aust and has branches throughout Aust with direct family members at the helm still.

Will need certificate as you mentioned to clarify the generation before.
Cheers and thanks again, Hyjean

Hyjean - I have Henry's ancestors to way back. His eldest brother John is my direct line. John's son Thomas emigrated also to Australia (1885) to Brisbane. One of his son's (Frank Breese Spencer) went on to become Chairman/Director of Nestle in Australia.
