Hi Twink1 I believe David started out life with parents Edward b 1817 Staffs and Rebecca b 1820 Warwickshire, Edward being a Boatman, David in the later census returns is a Coal Miner/Hewer, hopefully someone can fill in the history you require, or if not start your own thread, asking for information on him, all the best in your research.

Hi Twink1, have just come across your post about David. From research done by a New Zealand contact she has David married to Mary Annie Smith at West Bromwich who then had children David Leonard Foley 1892, Rebecca 1893-1894, John Edward 1896, Edith Elizabeth 1898 and Eva Annie 1900. David's parents were Edward 1818-1887 and Rebecca Reeves 1821-1916, his parents were Edward c1783-1852 and Mary Jones 1788-1866, his parents were Edward 1759 and Rebecca Cooksey c1754. Again his father was another Edward 1723 and mother Betty Foley 1726. I haven't much info on this last 2 sets of parents apart from children and no firm connection back, especially not to Ireland. In fact I was hoping they were descendants of the famous Foleys who owned the slitting mills and went on to own Witley Court and found Foley college amongst other things!!

good luck with your research and if you find out anything extra please let me know. Traysha
p.s. I am from Edward and Rebecca Cooksey's son Williams line.

Hi Twink - thanks for posting to this thread and also for the PM. I do not have time right now to give you a more detailed response but will do so in a few days.

I really don't believe that this Foley line came from Ireland by the way. There is no evidence to suggest that which I can find and plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Best Wishes
David
