henry Baxter

Hi
I am trying to trace a Henry Baxter. All I know about him is that he married Sarah. They had two children born in Ruddington, notts. George born in 1809 and John born in 1811. I know George went onto marry a Jane Price in 1831 and they had 4 children born in Ruddington. George died in 1841. I can not find a marriage for Henry, the only birth I can find for a Henry Baxter is in Bunny, born to a Elizabeth Baxter in the 1780's but not sure if this is my Henry. I am beginning to think that maybe they moved to the Ruddington area just before George was born.

Hi Chris

the only marriage I can find is on Pallots marriage index - 8 May 1809 Henry Baxter to Sarah Henson Nottingham St Mary.  if anyone has the church records maybe there'll be more clues.

Best wishes

Natalie

Hi Carol
Thanks.
I think the Henry living in Ruddington in 1851 may be mine. Had not thought of him remarrying. Will need to check the marriage records for both marriages to confirm. I don't suppose any has access to these records. If not I will have to go to the archives next time I am in Nottingham
Now only have the problem of trying to trace his family back futher as only his mother name is given on the records in Bunny.

Hi Chris

I don't have access to the original records, but there is a lady on this site who visits the Notts Records Office every week.  Hopefully she will read this thread.

If Henry was illegitimate it is worth checking if there is a maintenance order kept a Nottingham.

I did not realise that they did maintenance records back in the 1780's. You learn something new every day.

Hello, I know that this post was made quite a while ago but thought that it was worth a try.
I've been researching the chapel (on what is now Chapel Street) built by the Primitive Methodists in Ruddington in 1828/9. It seems that the plot was sold to them in November 1828 by a Henry Baxter, who might or might not be the Henry Baxter, FWK of Ruddington, named in the census. I have no information about him other than this name (and the names of other parties, presumably mortgagees and solicitors, etc.) involved in the sale).

Could this be your Henry Baxter?
